Plate and sheet rolling

Our plate rollers accommodate sheet and plate up to 1,250 mm wide, forming curved panels, cylinders and part-cylinders.

We also roll thicker material at reduced widths, including narrow plate strips and flat bar over 6 mm thick. Capacity depends on the combination of material, width, thickness and required diameter—not simply the thickness alone.

Tube, box section and flat bar

Our ring rollers form round tube, box section and flat bar into curves, hoops and rings. We accommodate schedule tube up to 2″ nominal size, subject to wall thickness and the required diameter.

The rollers can be reconfigured to suit different box-section sizes. Please enquire about 60 mm box so we can confirm the roller arrangement and suitability for your wall thickness and finished curve.

Flat bar can be rolled both the easy way and the hard way. Hard-way rolling bends the bar across its width to produce flat rings and curved strips. A simple sketch showing the orientation helps us understand exactly what you need.

Finished dimensions and material

Tell us the material, section dimensions or plate thickness, and the quantity required. For tube and box section, include the wall thickness or schedule number where known.

Give the finished diameter or radius and state whether it is measured to the inside, outside or centre line. For a partial curve, include a sketch showing the overall dimensions and how much of the circle is needed.

Let us know whether you need an open curve, an unwelded hoop or a completed welded ring or cylinder. A rough, dimensioned sketch is fine—you do not need a CAD drawing to make an enquiry.

Trimming, finishing and collection

Rolling can leave straight portions at the ends of the material. Where a continuous curve is needed, extra length may be required so these ends can be trimmed away.

Please check with us before cutting material to length. We can confirm the starting length and any allowance needed for rolling, trimming and joining.

Material supply, rolling, trimming and welding can be quoted together, with any additional finishing agreed as part of the quotation. Finished work is available for collection from our Fogwatt workshop.
